The Cure For Sin - Understanding and Dealing With The Sin Problem

As one who is born again, you no longer have a problem with sin.

“Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace”  Romans 6:13-14

Understanding and dealing with the sin problem

As one who is born again, you no longer have a problem with sin.

This is because the nature of sin has been replaced with the nature of righteousness.

Some Christians still struggle with sin because they lack sufficient information from the Word of God about who they are in Christ.

The Christian is dead to sin; you need to realize what that means; it means sin shall not have dominion over you; the power of sin over you is completely destroyed.

The problem with focusing on sin

Some are in places where all they hear about is sin. So, sin becomes the focus because they’ve been taught that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.

That’s not the Gospel. It is better to light a candle than to curse the darkness.

Therefore, its no use talking and complaining about darkness when you can simply turn the light on.

God sent us to preach the Gospel, not sin, and the Gospel is good news.

The Gospel to the sinner is that by VIRTUE of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, he’s been made righteous.

The sin sacrifice

Jesus was made sin for us, who knew no sin, that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him (2 Corinthians 5:21).

Therefore, rather than preaching sin, preach its cure- righteousness.

Jesus Christ has made us free from sin and sin consciousness.

Christians who still have problems with sin and sin-consciousness are those who are dominated by their senses.

The Bible says, “Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin” Romans 6:6

Sin shall not have dominion over you

Sin has no power over the new creation, and should not be the focus.

You can live righteously.

This begins with being conscious that you are the righteous and not a sinner, and then talking and living that way.

“But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him…” Isaiah 53:5

“He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification”  Romans 4:25

Let’s Pray

Dear Father, I rejoice, knowing that the Lord Jesus paid the ultimate sacrifice for sin, and I now stand justified in your presence. Thank you for ushering me into this new life of righteousness, where I reign and rule with Christ forever. Thank you Holy Spirit for constantly inspiring me every day that I am as righteous as Jesus is.  In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
